Screen Door PDX Airport (Concourse B)
About This Spot
Stepping into Screen Door PDX Airport, nestled just off the bustling concourse, feels like finding a comforting pause amid the rush of travel. The pace here hums with a gentle energy — enough to remind you you’re in an airport, but softened by the warmth and familiarity that Screen Door’s Southern-inspired kitchen brings. It’s a casual local eatery with a welcoming spirit, a dependable spot where the flavors feel heartfelt and the service carries a genuine smile, even when flights are delayed and time seems suspended.
The atmosphere strikes a balance between lively and relaxed, where the clatter of plates mingles with easy conversations. Whether you’re sharing a quick meal before takeoff or indulging in a bit of travel downtime, there’s an inviting ease to the space. The occasional bursts of laughter and the movement of friendly staff make it clear that hospitality isn’t an afterthought here — it’s part of the rhythm.
Food at Screen Door PDX Airport is a nod to comforting Southern classics, reimagined in a way that satisfies airport hunger without any fuss. The kitchen leans into hearty, soulful dishes that bring a little bright spot to your day—crisply fried chicken with just the right crunch, waffles that balance sweetness and warmth, and a thoughtful lineup of housemade touches that lift every bite. It’s the kind of place where even a simple scrambled egg order is met with an assuring nod and a serve-it-up warmth rarely found in travel hubs.
What stands out most is how this eatery manages to stay true to its roots in the midst of a transient crowd. Friendly servers move with purpose but also patience — willing to answer questions, recommend favorites, or simply share a moment before you catch your next flight. The sense that this is more than just a pit stop, but a brief return to something familiar and good, is woven throughout the experience.
If you find yourself wandering the concourse with time to spare, Screen Door PDX Airport offers a rare kind of comfort — satisfying, unpretentious, and quietly reliable. It’s where the spirit of Southern hospitality meets the practical needs of a traveler, creating a space that feels less like an airport restaurant and more like a brief home away from home.

I’ve been to the “real” screen door. This is not that. It’s airport food, but it’s pretty damn good airport food. Fried chicken was perfect, waffles were perfect. That is their thing, cant go wrong. If I go back I’d pass on the drink and get a larger serving of chicken and waffles, the mini was a mere snack.

I'd been meandering PDX for a few hours given an interminably long flight delay before a redeye. Looking for something simple, stopped by Screen Door. (I'd been to their Eastside location many years ago and will vouch for their awesome fries and waffles.) My server, Ashley could not have been nicer, warm and assured me it was more than okay to order scrambled eggs. They hit the spot and given the flight was delayed even longer I inquired if I could get a cup of tea. She returned with a presentation worthy of a pricey tea shop. Thank you Screen Door for accomodating me and especially Ashley who made my day so much better!

Thank God for the screen door in the Portland airport! The few times we have been stuck here waiting for a flight it has been a welcome reprieve. The food has always been amazing, the cornmeal encrusted anything is very good. We have tried and love the fried oysters, the fried chicken, and the fried catfish. We are always pleasantly surprised and amazed that this is airport food. Thank you, screen door for providing a slice of home while we are waiting at the airport. The staff has also always been extremely amazing, I can’t say enough about the service they provide considering the airport demands. We will always come back here when we find ourselves in terminal B.

Visiting restaurants in airports can be hit or miss, but Screen Door has become our go-to spot whenever we’re at this gate. The staff is always super friendly and gets you seated right away, and there’s plenty of seating, including at the bar. I ordered the bowl with blackened chicken and added fried eggs — it was hearty, healthy, and perfect for fueling up before a long flight. The coffee is just okay, but there’s a coffee shop right underneath the restaurant if you want something stronger. Overall, consistently a great experience and one of the best airport dining options out there!

Breakfast burger is pretty good. Fried fish is plain and all flavor comes from the tartar sauce. Waffle chicken is good but not very impressive. The chicken tastes like those in KFC. However, it’s still a good option for breakfast in the airport considering almost everything priced double while this restaurant keeps the price here the same as at the other locations.
